The lifelong learner attitude is a prerequisite that teachers have to possess in order to enlighten active and responsible learners and to adjust the teaching methods to the learners’ needs. This paper examines teachers’ attitudes toward lifelong learning programmes, the type of lifelong learning programmes they engaged in, the main barriers they encounter when joining lifelong learning education and the type of lifelong learning programmes they would like to follow. In this regard, a number of 110 pre-university teachers completed a self-report scale. The data indicates that teachers have positive attitudes toward lifelong learning. Further, teachers indicate that they joined various lifelong learning programmes, regardless of the obstacles they encounter when engaging in continuous education. The paper offers a set of policy recommendations regarding the development and implementation of the lifelong learning programmes, emphasizing the place of lifelong learning in the Romanian educational policy context and the current lifelong learning programmes’ coverage upon teachers’ needs for continuous learning.
